How to use Delete Pages

  1. 1

    Add your PDF

Every page shows as a thumbnail.

  2. 2

    Mark pages to remove

Click thumbnails, or type numbers like 2, 5-7.

  3. 3

    Save

Download a new PDF without those pages.

Get rid of the pages you don't need

Blank backs from a double-sided scan. The fax cover sheet. The ten pages of terms and conditions nobody asked for. The page with your Social Security number that the landlord doesn't actually need. Whatever it is, this tool takes it out and gives you a clean copy of everything else.

Two ways to pick pages

Click them

Every page shows up as a thumbnail. Click the ones you want gone and they get a red X. Click again to change your mind. This is the easiest way when you can see which pages are junk, like blank pages from a scanner.

Type them

On a long document, typing is quicker. Enter page numbers and ranges like 2, 5-7, 12. The matching thumbnails get marked so you can double-check before saving. You can mix both methods.

Your original is untouched

We never change your original file. You download a new PDF with the pages removed, and the old one is still sitting right where it was. If you deleted the wrong page, just do it again.

Undo-friendly

Marked the wrong page? Click it again and the mark goes away. Nothing actually changes until you hit Save, so feel free to click around while you decide.

Is the deleted page really gone?

Yes. We build a brand new PDF and copy over only the pages you're keeping. The removed pages aren't hidden or covered up, they're just not in the new file. That's different from some editors that simply hide pages, which can leave content buried inside the file.

One caveat: if the same image or text appears on a page you kept, it obviously stays. Deleting a page removes that page, not information that also shows up somewhere else.

Delete, extract or split?

  • Delete pages when you want most of the document, minus a few pages.
  • Extract pages when you want a few pages and can toss the rest. Picking 3 pages to keep out of 80 is quicker than picking 77 to delete.
  • Split PDF when you want to break a document into several separate files.

Tips

  • Trim before you compress. Removing blank scanned pages is the easiest way to make a file smaller. Then use Compress PDF if it's still too big.
  • Got pages out of order too? Organize PDF lets you delete, rotate and drag pages around in one go.
  • Watch out for page labels. Some PDFs number their pages "i, ii, iii" before "1". We always use the real position in the file, so page 1 is the very first page, no matter what's printed on it.

Pages people usually delete

  • Blank backs of single-sided pages scanned in duplex mode
  • Fax and email cover sheets
  • "This page intentionally left blank" pages
  • Duplicate pages from a scanner double-feed
  • Pages with personal details the recipient doesn't need, like a full account number

Works on phones too

On an iPhone or Android phone, tap the pages to mark them and tap Save. The new PDF goes to your Downloads or the Files app. No app to install.

Nothing gets uploaded

Deleting pages happens in your browser on your own device. That's a big deal when the whole reason you're removing a page is that it's private. The page never leaves your phone or computer, and neither does the rest of the file.

Questions people ask

Yes. Click as many as you like, or type a list such as 2, 5-7, 12.

Is the deleted page really removed from the file?

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. It's all done in your browser on your device.
