Your PDF, laid out like cards on a table
Organize PDF shows every page as a little thumbnail. Grab one and drag it where it belongs. Hover (or tap) a page to get buttons for rotating it, duplicating it or deleting it. When it looks right, save it as a new PDF. It's the closest thing to spreading the printouts on your kitchen table and shuffling them around.
What you can do here
- Reorder pages by dragging. On a phone, press and hold a page, then drag.
- Rotate single pages 90 degrees at a time. Perfect for that one landscape chart in a portrait report.
- Delete pages you don't want, like the blank backs of a double-sided scan.
- Duplicate pages, handy when you need two copies of a form in the same packet.
- Add blank pages anywhere, for notes or to make a document print nicely double-sided.
- Reverse the whole thing with one click. Lifesaver when your scanner fed the stack upside down and everything came out last page first.
- Add more PDFs. Drop in another file and its pages join the board, so you can mix pages from different documents in any order.
When to use Organize instead of Merge
Merge PDF works with whole files: file A, then file B, then file C. Organize works with single pages. If you need page 3 of the lease to come right after page 1 of the application, or you're building a packet out of bits and pieces of five documents, Organize is the better tool. Lots of people merge first and then come here to fine-tune.
Fixing a messy scan
Here's the classic: you scanned 30 pages on a sheet feeder, a few went in crooked, two came out sideways and the back of every page is blank. In Organize:
- Drop the scan in and give the thumbnails a scroll.
- Delete the blank pages. They're easy to spot as tiny white squares.
- Rotate the sideways ones.
- Drag anything out of place back where it goes.
- Save.
If the file's huge after all that, run it through Compress PDF.
Does anything get lost?
Pages are copied exactly, so text, images and links on each page stay put. Blank pages you add match the size of the page next to them. A few document-wide extras, like bookmarks that point at specific pages, may not survive a big reshuffle, since the pages they pointed at have moved.
Only need one thing?
Organize does a lot, but if you only need one job done, the single-purpose tools are faster: Rotate PDF, Delete PDF pages or Extract PDF pages.
Organizing on a phone or tablet
Thumbnails shrink to fit smaller screens, so you can see a good chunk of the document at once. Press and hold a page for a moment until it lifts, then drag it. If you drag near the top or bottom edge, the page list scrolls along with you. On an iPad, turning it sideways gives you more pages per row, which makes long documents a lot easier to handle.
Working with a really long file, like a 200-page scan? It's often faster to do it in two passes: first delete the junk pages and fix rotations, then do the reordering once there's less to scroll through.
Private, as always
Thumbnails are drawn and pages are rearranged right in your browser. Nothing is uploaded, and when you close the tab, the files are gone from the page.
